"Navigating IRB Requirements in QI: A Workshop with I-QIPS Coaches"
Description:
Managing IRB requirements in quality improvement (QI) projects can involve multiple competing demands, requiring consideration of project needs, long-term goals, and clinical context.
This workshop will begin with brief didactic training on QI and IRB principles, followed by facilitated breakout sessions focused on problem-solving and discussion of regulatory practices across BCM clinical pavilions. Breakout sessions will be led by I-QIPS coaches from the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, Baylor - St. Luke’s, Texas Children's Hospital, and Harris Health.
By the end of the session, attendees should be able to:
- Identify key purposes of IRB for QI projects
- Describe differences between QI and research projects
- Develop strategies to address common barriers in QI projects
