BCM ANNUAL CONFERENCE
The Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (QIPS) Conference, held annually in Houston, Texas, is organized by select BCM medical students under the guidance of QI faculty sponsors and hosted through the I-QIPS.

The conference highlights timely healthcare improvement topics, such as care coordination, health information technology and error reduction, professionalism and patient safety, quality improvement in ambulatory settings, and ethical considerations in QI work.

Featured oral and poster presentations allow attendees to showcase improvement initiatives, learn from others, and engage with colleagues. As a leader in quality and patient safety, BCM provides a unique forum to foster regional dialogue and share best practices across the College and its affiliated institutions.

Conference Pre-Registration - Deadline: May 11 @ 11:59 PM

There is no cost to attend the conference; however, registration is required. Pre-registration is preferred, but onsite registration will be available at the conference.


Call for Abstracts - Deadline: March 2

Abstract submission is open to faculty, nurses, other health professionals, trainees, and students from all TMC institutions. All submissions will be peer reviewed by faculty experts in quality improvement and patient safety. Abstracts submitted by chief residents in quality and safety will be scored as faculty submissions.

The highest rated abstracts will be selected for oral presentations during the conference. The authors of other accepted abstracts will be invited to present their findings during the conference poster session*.


MOC PART 4 CREDIT OPPORTUNITY - CONFERENCE QI POSTERS

*For qualified posters presented at the conference, eligible physician and physician assistant poster authors and their team members (non-poster authors) of the QI project featured in the poster may be eligible to earn MOC Part 4 credit/points or NCCPA Category 1 PI-CME credit through the BCM MOC Program.

After the conference, each physician and physician assistant (PA) should follow the Credit Opportunity: QI Poster - Getting Started Instructions to view eligibility criteria and complete the following steps:

  • Step 1: Register your QI activity (the project featured in the poster) in the QI Project Registry (required for BCM and affiliated employees only).

    A project should be registered only once, regardless of the number of physician/PA team members requesting credit. However, each physician/PA seeking credit is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the information entered in the QI Project Registry for their project.
  • Step 2: Submit an Attestation & Poster Submission Form by the noted deadline.

    A separate form must be submitted by each individual physician/PA seeking credit. No group/team submissions accepted.
